That’s why they call it grace

written Daniel Piper

Lord my soul needs you like my body needs air and water.

There’s a piece of my heart desiring to wander away farther and farther.

You rescued this lost sheep from chains and darkness.

You saw my wounded heart in pain and agony.

Like how you picked up the cross, I need you to carry me.

There is nothing I can accomplish being chained down to sin and death.

But thank God in Jesus Christ all of the bondage has been put to rest.

My only hope is in the Son of God.

I was once a man filled with wickedness, but the love of Jesus gave me a pathway to righteousness.

So when divine grace smacks me in the face and says, “All your sins have been paid for and erased.”

What am I to do but just bow down at the feet of Jesus?

Every day is a choice: do I live for myself or to the Savior I pledge allegiance?

Jesus chose to rescue and transform me on the inside because He craves to live within me!

That’s why they call it grace: what I receive is the God above begging to mold me into His dwelling place.

“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” – John 1:17 ESV
