Hi! I am Daniel Piper. Welcome to Piper’s Poetry, founded in 2022. Timeless Christian poems written for all. Please enjoy the following poem about me!

I’m an American with Hungarian decent. My grandfather fled Budapest in 1956, with nothing but pockets full of lint. On January 1, 1957, he stepped onto the shores of New Jersey. Thinking he was all alone and unworthy. He was taken in, as a homeless refugee, at a church in a town named Bethlehem. He couldn’t speak English, but he worked at the steel mill better than the rest of them. He gained reputation and status in the coming years. Settled down in Maryland and started a family. Soon landing a job as an engineer at NASA. Once a wild dream became a living reality. With titles and accolades, his life was not all that it was cracked up to be. The Hungarian revolution, lost family and friends, these people he may never see again, stirred in his mind like a mystery. His own children didn’t know their real dad’s story. Only that he would swear never to be a part of tyranny. The children could see the pain in their dad’s eyes. They were sheltered from the boy who fled his own family crossing the border in disguise. The man’s life was left in pieces on that Hungarian farm. But now he has four kids under age 6 weeping and crying in his arms.
What’s a man to do when he’s started a new family, yet can’t connect or talk to his own? Does he erase the past life and just pretend all is fine in his new home? His heart was heavy and sinking. Leaving his kids wondering what is my dad up late at night thinking? The chaos and confusion were passed down from one family to another. Thank God my mom walked to the local church to find shelter and cover.
She found truth and love that only Jesus can give. Her heart was made new once she felt the healing that Jesus is. She heard the voice of her true Father call her by name. He said, “my Son has been nailed to the pain, so you my dear can walk freely from shame”.
Fast forward through the years, now I’m on a mission to spread God’s love. For my own life has been of that like the prodigal, rejecting the God above. I have tasted everything this world has to offer. The temporarily thrills always left me alone and emptier. I thank God that He ran and chased me down. He lifted me up and handed me a crown. “Oh my, I do not deserve this”, was my first thought. But God smiled and said:
“Don’t you worry, your life has already been bought.
Come, follow me, and I’ll give you peace longer than time.
I need to make you pure and holy,
So like my Son, you can forever shine.
Do not live for yourself.
Everything outside of Me, decays and rots on the shelf.
I’ll give you all the desires of your heart.
For I have always been watching you from the start.”
These words from the Lord I know are true. I have a testimony of God’s love grabbing ahold and piercing through. He’s won my hard heart. Everything I have is from Him. I know exactly who I am. Let’s thank God he doesn’t count up the sins.
These poems I write, are tales of my journey following the Lord Jesus Christ.
P.S. I love you Nagyapu. I praise God for all the wisdom you taught me. I thank God you were able to find Jesus Christ.
