Can You Imagine

written by Daniel Piper

Can you imagine a world where not a tear is shed?

Only God is the One with holes and scars showing signs He bled.

The Savior’s pain is eternally visible so I can die and Heaven gain.

Christ stepped down, went to the cross hoping to carry up my name.

Lord, I’m in awe. Speechless. Words can’t describe what you have done for me.

Crushed and alone, you willingly hung on death’s tree.

On just a hope to rescue my life and set me free.

Your love I’ve discovered is out of this world.

Can you imagine a world where every knee must bow before God’s throne?

Only One is worthy to stand; the innocent, spotless lamb.

Crushed, bruised, smitten and mocked;

Is the One who can stand before God around the clock.

A love with a cost this steep; shows the depths of mankind’s shame.

We’ve all lost and forgotten who’s given our delicate name.

Christ showed the only way to the Father is to surrender everything.

When this world has a disgusting taste; Heaven crashes into your life through a love reckoning.

Can you imagine a world where Heaven is living in your heart?

Not through health, possessions or status; but through purity and humility.

The flesh will hang on a tree;

But the mind is flourishing in truth and eternity.

The words of the Lord turn on the lights of my soul.

The love and promises of God overflow my spirit making me whole.

I believe Heaven can be here in Earth.

Christ says him and the Father want to make ME their home.

So where is Heaven?

Is it far away or within my bones?

Can you imagine a world where you give up everything?

In exchange for even more.

Where more than everything is walking into Heaven’s store.

But only those allowed in have the mark of no sin.

That’s why I have to surrender and allow Christ fully within.

The entrance to Heaven is not when I leave Earth.

It’s here and now sacrificing all that I’m worth.

By imitating Christ and letting the nails drive in;

Is how the Father turns the doorknob to Heaven.
